What is the P.R.P. Facelift?
Science has shown for years that unipotent stem cells exist in the skin and are responsible for healing the body when you sustain a wound or cut. Until recently, doctors had no viable way to trigger those stem cells to grow new tissue.
Now, medical science has provided doctors with a way to ‘flip the switch’ and instruct the unipotent stem cells to grow new tissue and collagen in targeted and precise areas of the body.
By harnessing growth factors found in the blood, a physician can activate the unipotent stem cells already in the skin and signal those cells to grow new, younger-appearing skin.
The P.R.P. FaceLift® Procedure™ combines the use of injectable facial fillers (such as Restylane and Juvederm) and unipotent stem cells, to provide a youthful appearance to the face in a natural-looking way.
The first part of the P.R.P. FaceLift® Procedure™ uses facial fillers to begin reshaping specific areas of the face. This initial injection of fillers is the foundation to the impressive end results.
The fillers act as a scaffold in order to shape the growth of unipotent stem cells . They ensure that the new tissue and collagen grow into the desired form in the weeks following the procedure.
The areas treated by the P.R.P. FaceLift® then continue to produce new collagen and younger-looking skin for months after the procedure.

Have any celebrities had this procedure?
Yes! A number of Hollywood A-listers have received a P.R.P. Facelift as part of their beauty regimen. Examples include:
How does it work?
Platelet rich plasma is similar to facial fillers because it can be injected to sculpt the face. The injection of platelet rich plasma causes an increase in the volume, as well as an activation of growth factors that rejuvenate the area.
By activating these growth factors:
- The skin has an improved color because of new blood vessel formation.
- New collagen forms in the skin and lifts the face back to a more youthful shape.
- The growth factors work to build a new outermost layer of skin, which will cause it to appear much smoother.
What happens during the procedure?
A powerful numbing cream is applied to the face.
Blood is drawn from the arm (like a blood test).
The blood is put into a centrifuge and spun at very high speed. This process concentrates and separates the platelet rich plasma from the rest of the blood.
The platelets are transferred into another tube with a calcium chloride solution. The solution causes the platelets to react as though they are still in the body and the body has been injured.
The platelets release growth factors into the liquid of the tube.
The liquid is transferred into a syringe and injected into the face using a tiny needle. The injections are done in a way that distributes the growth factors properly.
Many worry about discomfort, but, due to the numbing cream, you should only feel a slight pinch when being injected.
How long does it last?
The full regenerative effects of the platelet rich plasma happen over a few weeks to a few months, as your body grows new cells, but the benefits of the facial fillers start immediately after the P.R.P. FaceLift.
The effects of the fillers will fade after a few months, and will be replaced by the growth of your own collagen. This collagen and new tissue behaves like a natural part of your body, which is why it ages naturally as well.
Because the tissue created by the P.R.P. FaceLift ages naturally with you: Our office recommends getting additional treatments after 12 to 18 months (depending on age and health factors) for maximum effect.
Is there any recovery time?
No, there is minimal to no recovery time from the P.R.P. Facelift Procedure. Patients will have some slight irritation at the injection sites for a day or two, but these can often times be obscured by light makeup.
Patients can receive the P.R.P. Facelift in the afternoon and go out that evening without worry.
To put this in perspective, compare these results to the aftercare and post-operative instructions that follow a traditional surgical facelift.
After a surgical facelift, plastic surgeons recommend having a caretaker for the fist 24-48 hours, taking heavy strength pain medications for a week or more, engaging only in low impact activities for a week or more, and doing a routine of aftercare exercises. During that first week especially, the face will also be heavily bruised and swollen after a traditional facelift. Most patients aren’t fit to go into public for at least a couple weeks after their surgical facelift.
Knowing all of that, it makes the lack of discomfort and downtime from the P.R.P. Facelift nothing short of miraculous.
